Part I. Visual Analysis Essay and Gallery based on Field Trip to MoMA (40%) 5th and 4th floors

Essay:
Write a 2 or more page visual analysis based on one work by any artist working between 1870 and 1950
​
Advice:

Integrate as many of your terms as are applicable

Support each claim with clear examples

Use specific and descriptive language (with correct grammar and spelling)

Part II. Art and Context in the Modern World Essay and Gallery (40%)
​
This part is research based. Make to review the section on RESEARCH TIPS as the quality of your research will be a factor in determining your grade.
The term “Modern Art” refers to the work of groups of artists that were in various ways challenging traditional aesthetics and forging new visual languages. These new aesthetic principles reflected the artists’ changing world.
​
Choose one artist and write a 1-2 page essay discussing the contextual factors that influenced him or her and the style he or she is associated with. This can be, but does not have to be the same artist as in Part I.
Consider personal factors, regional factors and global factors. Be very specific and give clear examples. Use high quality sources with appropriate citations (see the Campus Resources section and click on “help with research and citations”).

Part III. e-Portfolio Posting and Reflection (20%)
​
Develop the sections and pages of your e-Portfolio including any or all of the following: other courses, extra curricular activities, travel, work experience, etc. Include whichever aspects of yourself you wish to be known.
Exam Specifications:

Parts I and II both include an essay and a gallery. Also photograph your receipt.
